Amountle

Amountle shows you objects falling into a transparent jar, then cuts off: how many are inside? One game stacked pink cubes behind a glass wall, with the label COUNTING during the fall, the caption HOW MANY?, a counter on the right, a minus-and-plus dial around the number, and a large SUBMIT button. In the top right, five aligned dots mark progress, the first lit.

1. Open the day's puzzle with PLAY TODAY'S PUZZLE and watch the fall while the counter displays COUNTING.
2. Rotate the jar (the game indicates drag to spin) to see what the front face hides.
3. Set your estimate with the minus and plus buttons, or type the value.
4. Validate with SUBMIT or the Enter key, the game showing return to submit, before the countdown ends.
5. Play consecutive rounds by following the row of dots at the top.

Because estimating by sight is a skill you almost never practice voluntarily, and Amountle puts it on a timer with a rotating jar. There's nothing to deduce, nothing to search for: just that uncomfortable moment when the eye has to decide without being able to count. The 3D rendering and the dial make the gesture almost physical, and the streak-gel shop betrays the real point: coming back every day.

The pressure is on screen: a countdown attached to the label HOW MANY?, a pink progress bar running along the top of the window, and five dots that delimit the round. The site's published description mentions a score compared over five rounds, and the home page shows a daily leaderboard as well as a streak counter with the seven days of the week.

• The jar can be rotated: the hidden face may contain a whole layer that the initial view doesn't show, and the countdown is short, so this move is better than recounting.
• The game itself warns that power-saving mode throttles the animation: turn it off before playing, otherwise you'll judge a stack you haven't seen fall.
• The Enter key confirms (return to submit appears under the button): adjust with minus and plus then submit via the keyboard to save the last seconds.
