What is Enclose Horse?

A horse stands loose on a grid of grass and water, and you are given a fixed number of wall blocks to fence it in. Tap grass tiles to drop walls; the horse walks up, down, left and right and escapes if any gap lets it reach the edge of the board, so water is the one barrier you get for free. Your score is the size of the paddock you manage to close around it, which turns the puzzle into an optimisation problem: the biggest enclosure your wall budget can pay for, not merely a working one.

How to play

  1. Tap grass tiles to drop walls. Nothing is committed until you submit, so rearrange the shape as often as you like.
  2. When the enclosure is sealed the score appears. Press Submit once you are happy: the day gives you a single submission.

Why play Enclose Horse?

This is a scoring puzzle rather than a guessing one: nothing is hidden, the whole board is visible from the first second, and the difficulty is entirely in spending a wall budget well. The single submission is what gives it teeth, because there is no trying again for a better number, and it is also the reason it will annoy anyone who likes to iterate until they beat their own score. A safe pen takes a minute; hunting the optimum can absorb ten. The game is free, behind an advertising consent banner on the way in.

Reading the feedback

Everything is live. Walls counts down from the budget the board gives you - ten of ten on the day this page was checked - and the Score counter reads N/A until your walls actually seal the horse in, then shows the tile count. Tapping the horse previews every tile it can still walk to, so a leak is visible rather than guessed at. After you submit you see how everyone else scored and can view the optimal solution.

Modes

Daily puzzle
One board a day, identical for every player, one submission. Special tiles change the maths: cherries are worth +3 inside your pen, golden apples +10, bee swarms -5, and portals let the horse teleport straight out of a fence that looked sealed.
Weekly Challenge
A separate weekly board alongside the daily one.
Past Puzzles
Previous days stay playable, with prev and next arrows on the board and an archive in the menu.

Tips & strategy

  • Water costs you nothing, so the good openings are the ones that hug a lake. A pen built in open grass burns walls on every side; the same pen tucked against a water shape costs far less.
  • Seal something small first, then grow it. A valid enclosure banks a score you cannot lose, and expanding a closed pen is a series of cheap swaps rather than a fresh gamble on a board where you only submit once.
  • Watch the exchange rate before you extend: if pushing the fence out costs four walls and buys you three tiles, that is a losing trade and those walls belong on the other side.

Popular questions

Do I get more than one try at the daily board?

No. A new puzzle drops every day, the same one for everyone, and you get a single submission - though you can rearrange your walls as much as you like before you press it.
