DCdle

DCdle asks you to recognize a character from the DC universe (heroes, villains and iconic locations included), from the site’s description. The board fits into three blocks on a poster-like background crowded with characters: a field labeled "Enter a DC character's name" with its Submit button, a row of three locked hint panels, and a five-color legend that explains the game’s grammar. The three hints display their unlocking condition on their own label: Comic after 3 tries, Quote after 6, Description after 11. The legend distinguishes five states: correct in green, one or more missing or wrong elements in amber, no correct element in red, then two arrows, lower answer in blue and higher answer in purple, for criteria that compare by number. The banner offers a French or English toggle, a light or dark theme, and a Profile area with optional sign-in, with Log in and Sign up links.

1. Choose your language in the banner, French or English, then open the Play page.
2. Type a DC character’s name into the field provided and confirm with Submit.
3. Read the result line in light of the legend, including the up and down arrows that frame numbered criteria.
4. Count your attempts: the three hint panels open respectively after 3, 6 and 11 tries.

The DC universe is large enough that a criterion-based deduction game fits well, and DCdle’s legend shows it’s not a simple right-or-wrong: the amber of partial matches and the arrows for numerical comparison force you to reason by cross-checking rather than by a flash of memory. The progression of hints is also well thought out, from the comic visual to the quote and then the description, each unlocked by persistence rather than by a points counter.

The legend shown under the board announces five states, which says a lot about the format: in addition to green for a perfect match and red for off-topic there is an amber for multi-value criteria where only part of the answer is correct, and two comparison arrows, higher or lower, for what can be counted. The field records nothing for an entry that is not a DC character name, so no result line appears for it.

Daily Challenge

The site description promises a new challenge each day, focused on the DC character of the day.

• The two arrows in the legend mean at least one criterion is compared numerically: even a name that’s completely off will still bracket that value, so a first attempt is never entirely wasted.
• Amber indicates a criterion with multiple values where only part matches: it’s the feedback that contains the most information, since it confirms a lead without fully validating it.
• The three hint panels display no cost, only a number of tries before opening: 3 for the Comic panel, 6 for Quote, 11 for Description. Nothing forces you to rush, but nothing is bought either.
