Fumbll

Fumbll hides an American football player each day and gives you six guesses to find them, on a board placed in the middle of a field drawn as the background. Each submitted name is compared to the mystery player across seven columns: team, division, position, jersey number, age, years of experience, and fantasy points. Each puzzle carries a number, and the game specifies that everyone receives the same player, with a new puzzle appearing each day at 8:00 UTC.

1. Open fumbll.com: the search field, the seven comparison columns and the remaining-guesses counter all fit on a single screen.
2. Type a name into "Search for a player..." and select it.
3. Confirm with GUESS: a row appears and compares your player to the mystery player column by column.
4. Read the matches and the arrows on the numeric columns to narrow down, then repeat up to the sixth guess.
5. Optionally enable the HARD button in the header before starting if you want to play without the proximity indicators.

Fumbll is polite enough to publish its thresholds: when a cell turns "close" you know exactly what window it defines: five jersey numbers, two years, twenty-five fantasy points. The game then stops being a matter of intuition and becomes a real process of elimination, where each guess is chosen for what it cuts off. And for those who dislike that comfort, hard mode removes the proximity indicators and leaves only the arrows, with no way to go back.

Three verdicts per column, which the help labels Correct, Close and Miss, with numeric tolerances that are the core of the game: team and position require exact matches, division is "close" when it’s the same conference, jersey number within five, age within two years, experience within two seasons, and fantasy points within twenty-five points, calculated in half PPR over the 2025 season. The numeric columns also show an arrow indicating whether the sought value is above or below yours.

Hard Mode

A HARD button in the header hides all proximity indicators; only the up/down arrows on numeric columns remain. The help notes that once activated it cannot be deactivated for the current grid, and that a shared result is labeled All-Pro if it was active from start to finish, Pro Bowl if it was enabled partway through.

Player Roster

The page contains a "Player Roster" section.

• The tolerances are published, so they can be used like equations: an age shown as "close" confines the answer to a two-year window, a jersey number in "close" to a five-number window. Two well-spaced guesses are better than a random shot.
• The division column is the most valuable early on: it is only "close" for the same conference, so a single guess splits the league in two.
• The fantasy-points column is read in half PPR over the 2025 season: a player with a known production volume immediately places the mystery player's order of magnitude, by position.
• If you’re tempted by hard mode, enable it before your first guess: the help warns it cannot be undone, and the shared-result label distinguishes those who enabled it from the outset.
