Am I Dead?

Am I Dead? shows you ten celebrity portraits a day and asks a single question about each one: alive or dead. Before you answer you set a confidence wager from 1x to 3x, and you can trade potential points for clues about who you are looking at. Every face you call correctly earns a shot at a bonus round where you place that person's birth or death year.

1. Set your wager first. 1x plays it safe; 3x multiplies what the question can pay and what it can cost.
2. Optionally reveal a clue. Clues help, and each one quietly costs you points.
3. Answer alive or dead, then move on to the next of the ten faces.

Three minutes, ten faces, and roughly one uncomfortable discovery per session about how badly you track who is still around. It fits people who keep tabs on twentieth-century public figures - the faces the site has been running lately go from Garry Kasparov to Angela Davis - because that long tail of half-forgotten names is where the wager mechanic actually bites; if your reference points sit elsewhere, the wagering degenerates into coin-flipping. Anyone who finds mortality an unwelcome subject for a game should pass, though the joke is aimed squarely at the player's memory rather than at the people on the cards.

Each face resolves as you answer it, and once your score lands you can see how the field did. The boards track daily winners, all-time climbers, the most-fooled faces and Dead Last, and the weekly Postmortem replays the misses with the numbers attached: in one week's edition, 79% of players called Angela Davis deceased, and she is alive. Scores are made to be shared.

The game presents a single daily puzzle of ten celebrity portraits. For each portrait you set a confidence wager (1x to 3x) before answering, may optionally reveal one or more paid clues that reduce the question’s payout, then call each face "alive" or "dead." Each correctly called face awards a chance at a bonus round where you place that person’s birth or death year.

• On a name you genuinely do not know, a clue is the cheaper risk: it only trims what the question can pay, while a wrong answer takes points off you outright and the wager multiplies that loss.
