Scrandle

Scrandle is a daily food-comparison game made by one developer: two dishes bought at sports grounds and other venues appear side by side, each on a card with the venue, the year, a country flag, a photo and the price, and you pick the one the crowd rated higher. The site's own line is that the winner is adjudicated by social media and your peers, so the question is never which plate you would eat but which one other people scored better. The Daily hands everyone the same run: a warm-up marked BONUS ROUND! where both picks count, then ten scored matchups, with a countdown on the home screen showing when the next one lands. Random mode is unlimited free play with a safe mode and a seed field; supporters who donate on Ko-Fi unlock advanced filters, Super Scrandle, synced stats and Friday developer commentary. There are no ads and no subscription, by the developer's stated choice.

1. Choose Daily on the home screen; the countdown under the button shows how long today's run stays open.
2. Start with the matchup marked BONUS ROUND!: pick either card, both count as superior, and the game moves on by itself.
3. For each of the ten scored pairs, read the venue, year, price and photo on both cards, then click the one you think the community rated higher.
4. Watch the reveal: your card is locked, the higher-rated dish is marked as the superior scran, each card shows its rating percentage, and the pip for that round is marked won or lost before the next pair loads.
5. Read the end screen: your score out of ten, the title it earns, and the community average for the same daily, then share the result or open Stats.
6. Keep going in Random for free play, or open History for your Accuracy, Perfects, Scran Level and the calendar of old dailies.

Play Scrandle if you enjoy modelling other people's taste rather than your own: the crowd behind the ratings has firm views on value for money, and a cheap pie at a lower-league ground can beat an expensive burger at a big stadium. It is also a tour of what actually gets sold at grounds and festivals across the world, one real photo at a time. Skip it if you want a puzzle with a deducible answer, because a matchup is a judgement call and the reveal gives you a percentage, not a reason. A Daily takes about three minutes, and Random runs as long as you like.

Every pick is graded instantly and in binary. The moment you click, both cards lock: the higher-rated item is flagged as the superior scran, the other as inferior, and each card shows its community rating as a percentage. There is no partial credit. A row of ten pips in the status bar marks each round as won or lost, and the next pair loads on its own after a few seconds. At the end, the score out of ten comes with a title, such as Unlucky Scranner for six, beside the community average for the same daily. In the opening bonus round both cards count as superior.

Daily

One run a day, the same for everyone: a BONUS ROUND! warm-up plus ten scored matchups, graded out of ten with a title and the community average. The home screen counts down to the next one, which arrives at 23:00 UTC.

Random

Unlimited free play. Safe mode drops alcohol and cussing, Mensa mode guarantees unique items, and a seed reproduces a set. Supporters get advanced options: Difficulty from Easy to Impossible, Item Ratings bands, Item Locations by region, and gimmicks such as WEBP, Mirrored, Obfuscated and Price-Off.

Super Scrandle

Supporters only. An enhanced daily mode starting with 1,000 points: wager on the scran you think is superior, earn 150 percent of a correct wager, lose that wager button on a miss, face an Evil round every fifth pair, and hold a Yellow Card to swap out an item.

History

Your Accuracy, Perfects and Scran Level over a calendar of past days, with old dailies reachable from it.

• Judge the deal, not the dish: the price sits on every card because the crowd rates value, and an honest, generous plate at a fair price tends to beat a pricier, prettier one.
• Use the reveal percentages to calibrate: after each pick both ratings show, so note what kind of item scored 14 percent and what scored 5, and adjust the next call.
• Switch the currency in Settings if pounds mean nothing to you; the game itself warns that the conversion is not particularly accurate, so read prices as rough.
• Leave Evil Mode off in Settings until you beat the community average regularly; the setting exists to make the game more evil, as it says.
• In Random, set a seed and share it: the same seed and options give the same set of items, which the game recommends for friendly competition.
• Turn on Safe mode in Random if you play with children or at work: it removes alcohol and cussing from the pool.
