Worddelo

Worddelo takes the five-letter, six-guess grid and adapts it to a points economy. Before starting, the welcome screen requires two settings: word length (5, 6 or 7 letters) and difficulty (Easy, Medium or Hard), and each game then feeds a score, a leaderboard and a system of weekly leagues that progress from Rookie to Absolute Legend.

1. Choose the word length on the welcome screen: 5, 6 or 7 letters.
2. Choose the difficulty: Easy, Medium or Hard.
3. Start the game and type a word on the virtual keyboard.
4. Read the colors, eliminate, and repeat guess after guess.
5. Collect points: the page announces a higher bonus the fewer guesses it takes to find the word.

Worddelo takes the skeleton of the daily grid and places it on an economy: points per game, a bonus if you finish quickly, a leaderboard, weekly leagues. Setting the length and difficulty before each game also changes the ritual, since the grid is no longer imposed by the day but chosen by you. It's less a puzzle of the day than a scored training ground, provided you accept a page heavily loaded with editorial content around the board.

Three states, as everywhere, but in a palette of its own. The legend displayed above the grid reads "Correct spot", "Wrong spot", "Not in word", and the tiles are violet, light mauve and gray. Note that the site contradicts itself: its three-step summary states violet for the correct place and orange for the wrong one, while the detailed guide speaks of lavender and no tile is orange.

• The welcome screen has two distinct rows of buttons, length on one side, difficulty on the other, and a launch button that includes the chosen length in its label: read that label before clicking.
• The score depends on the number of guesses: according to the page, the fewer you use, the higher the bonus. One extra recognition attempt therefore costs points, not just time.
• The menu includes a Word Helper. It's a site tool, not an in-game hint: it's up to you to decide whether it belongs in your day's grid.
