What is Rhumdle?
Rhumdle is a geographic bearing game. Each round names an origin and a target city; you turn a compass needle toward the initial bearing of the shortest path between them, lock it in, and are graded by your angular error. Its arcade modes turn this map-reading task into either a time trial, a survival run or a streak chase.
How to play
- Read the origin and target city shown for the round.
- Drag or tap the compass needle to point from City A toward City B along the shortest path.
- Lock in the bearing and read the angular-error grade, points and any time change.
- Continue according to the selected Arcade or Daily Puzzle mode.
Why play Rhumdle?
Choose Rhumdle if you want geography driven by spatial reasoning rather than capital-city recall. The visible angle grades make every choice legible, and the arcade modes let you prioritize speed, consistency or a long clean streak.
Reading the feedback
Rhumdle responds to every round with a named accuracy band. A 0° Bullseye earns 15 points and +10 seconds; Excellent is under 15° for 5 points and +5 seconds; Nice is under 30° for 3 and +3s; Close is under 50° for 1 and +1s; Off at 50° or more earns no points or time. In Blitz and Survival, time bonuses apply; consecutive non-Off rounds build x2, x3 and x4 point multipliers, while Off breaks the combo.
Modes
- Blitz
- A fixed 30-second to five-minute timer; better guesses add time and the objective is to beat the clock.
- Survival
- Start with 30 seconds; every round costs time, better guesses return time and there is one life.
- Streak
- No clock; keep guessing until an Off result ends the run and pursue a personal best.
- Daily Puzzle
- A distinct daily-puzzle tab listed in the game’s How to Play panel.
Tips & strategy
- Prioritize the initial bearing, not a straight-line map impression: the game explicitly grades the shortest route between the two cities.
- Aiming within 15° is especially valuable in timed modes because it awards both points and extra seconds.
- Avoid Off results when a combo is active; an Off resets the multiplier entirely.
Popular questions
How does Rhumdle score a bearing?
It grades angular error from Bullseye at exactly 0° through Excellent, Nice and Close, with Off at 50° or more. Each band has an explicit point value and, in timed modes, time bonus.
What happens when I am Off in Rhumdle?
An Off result is an angular error of at least 50°. It awards zero points and no time, and it breaks any active combo multiplier.
