AnimeGrids

AnimeGrids crosses three column clues with three row clues and expects an anime at each intersection. Its real innovation is elsewhere: when you open a cell, the selector shows the crossing as its title and tells you how many animes satisfy it, before you even search for a title. The scoring isn't just binary. It's rarity, defined by the game as the percentage of players who placed the same anime as you on that cell, a low percentage meaning a rare choice. A streak counter completes the banner.

1. Read the three column clues and the three row clues: each cell must satisfy the two that cross it.
2. Open a cell. The selector displays the intersection in its title, announces how many animes fill it, and opens a title search field.
3. Submit your title: a correct answer locks into the grid.
4. Aim for rarity. The banner shows your percentage and the “Refresh rarity” button recalculates it while other players fill their own grids.

A grid of intersections where being correct isn't enough. By showing the size of the pool before you choose, AnimeGrids removes the excuse of ignorance and turns each cell into a trade-off: play the obvious title and watch its rarity collapse, or dig through the catalog for a name nobody else will play. The streak counter, meanwhile, reminds you that caution has its merits, and it's exactly that tension that keeps players coming back.

Two layers that measure different things. The first is binary: a correct answer locks into its cell. The second is social: rarity, the percentage of players who used the same anime for that cell, where lower means rarer. Added to this are a streak counter in the banner and, even before you validate, the number of possible animes for the open intersection, written out in the selector.

An Archive link at the top of the page gives access to past grids.

• The number of possible animes is shown before you search: use it to pick your play order. An intersection with a wide pool is where rarity is earned; a narrow intersection is where you should take the safe title.
• Rarity shifts over the course of the day because it depends on other players. The “Refresh rarity” button exists for that, and a percentage checked in the morning won't be the same at night.
• The day rolls over at midnight Eastern Time, not at midnight where you are. Depending on your time zone, the grid can change during your day and a streak can break without warning.
