One film a day, identified from its cinematography. You open on a single still, often a deliberately unhelpful one, an empty corridor or a desk, and every guess you get wrong buys you the next frame, up to six. The frames come from Shotdeck.

Framed is the daily that refuses to help you. Guess wrong and you learn nothing except what the next shot looks like, so the run is a pure test of whether you can read an image - grade, lens, era, geography - rather than work a system of clues. That makes it excellent for people who watch widely and pay attention to how films look, and frustrating for anyone whose reference points are the last few years of streaming, because the curated list reaches back years and a bad day just ends in six pictures and a shrug. The unusual part is the archive: today's puzzle is past number sixteen hundred and the days you missed stay open, so unlike most dailies this one can be binged, and the daily is really just the entry point.

There is almost none, and that is the design. A wrong title goes into the list and nothing else comes back: no distance, no warmer or colder, no hint about genre, decade or cast. What you get is one more photograph and a counter reading how many guesses remain. Every frame you have already unlocked stays reachable through the numbered strip under the image.

• Early frames rarely show faces, so stop looking for them. The readable signal is production design: aspect ratio, colour grade, the vintage of the props and screens in shot, the type of place the film keeps returning to.
