What is Crossflip?
Crossflip places a grid of double-sided tiles: each tile has a different letter on each face, so every row and every column can form two valid words, one tied to the theme shown above the grid and the other a decoy unrelated to it. The whole game is about flipping the right tiles, and doing so as infrequently as possible.
How to play
- Read the day's theme displayed above the grid: it is what distinguishes the two possible words for each row.
- Flip a tile to switch it to its other letter, and see what the switch does to the perpendicular word.
- Compare the Flips counter to the Par shown just next to it; the instruction is to finish with a minimum number of flips.
- A Show Timer link appears in the interface; no timer is shown until you activate it.
Why play Crossflip?
The idea is contained in one sentence: two possible words per row, one real and one false, and only one tile face to decide. The theme serves as a compass, the flips counter as a conscience, and the game feels more like a logic puzzle than a vocabulary hunt, since the letters are already there. Note also that the advertising consent wall is rather persistent.
Reading the feedback
The header keeps the counts: the day's grid number, the number of flips already spent, and the reference Par.
Modes
- Daily
- One grid per day, numbered, with its theme and its flip Par.
Tips & strategy
- A correct word proves nothing: each row also accepts a decoy word unrelated to the theme, so validate against the theme before flipping anything.
- A tile belongs to a row and a column at the same time: flipping it to save one broken word may break the one across from it, which is why the flips budget matters.
Popular questions
What is the Par shown at the top of the grid for?
It gives the flip benchmark for the day's grid, against the Flips counter, since the rule is to finish with as few flips as possible.
Does a timer run continuously?
No timer is shown by default. The interface has a link labeled Show Timer.
