Word Web

Word Web begins with three five-letter words. Add more five-letter words, changing one letter at a time, until every word belongs to the same connected web.

1. Read the three starting words and the displayed par score.
2. Enter a five-letter word that changes one letter from a word already in the web.
3. Keep adding valid links until the separate starting words are connected.

It keeps the familiar word-ladder move but shifts the goal from reaching one endpoint to making a compact network.

The page shows a running word count, a score and the par for the puzzle. A Reveal Answer control is also available.

Core play

The game presents a single default puzzle that begins with three five-letter starter words. You add additional five-letter words that differ by one letter from an existing word until the separate starters become a single connected web. The page displays a running word count, your score and the puzzle par, and includes a Reveal Answer control.

• Look first for word families that can bridge two starter words, rather than growing a long branch from only one.
• Use the par as a constraint: a low par usually means a short bridge exists.
