Pairdle

Pairdle works by reasoning in two-letter blocks. The daily word is six letters and is built from a pool of pairs, from which you must choose those that occupy the beginning, the middle, and the end. The game states that each guess locks the correct pairs and narrows the search for the next one.

1. Read the pool of two-letter tiles displayed beneath the slots.
2. Place one pair in each of the three slots marked FIRST, MID, and LAST to form the six-letter word, as the game's description states.
3. The panel shows a GUESS button beneath the pool of pairs; according to the game's description, each guess locks the correct pairs and reduces the field for the next ones.

Pairdle's wager is to shift the unit of reasoning: as long as you think in isolated letters, the grid resists, whereas by thinking in two-letter syllables the number of combinations becomes countable. It's a different mental exercise from letter-by-letter deduction, closer to spotting patterns than to elimination.

The game's description states that each guess freezes the correct pairs and tightens the search. The How to Play panel illustration, for its part, shows two candidate pairs per slot, which gives the shape of the choice to be made.

Core play

A single default daily puzzle. Each puzzle is a six‑letter word composed of three two‑letter pairs; players choose one pair for each of the three slots labeled FIRST, MID and LAST from the pool shown beneath the slots and press the GUESS button. According to the game's official description, each guess locks any pairs that are correct and narrows the remaining choices. There are no alternate game modes.

• Think of the word in three blocks, not six letters: ask yourself which pairs could open or close a six-letter English word, rather than searching letter by letter.
• The help panel's illustration shows two candidate pairs per slot: the choice is made position by position, not across the entire pool at once.
