What is Secret Sound?
Secret Sound asks a single question each day, written large above the player: what makes this noise? There is nothing to see, only a play button, a dotted line that stands in for a waveform, and a field to type your answer. The game is part of BrainSnack, a small set of daily puzzles linked to one another by arrows in the footer. Three hints sit behind a button, and a score appears at the top of the screen, eight out of eight on opening.
How to play
- Start the clip with the play button.
- Replay it as many times as needed: the note under the player states unlimited replays.
- Type an answer in the field and submit with Guess.
- Open a hint if listening isn't enough, or abandon with Give up.
Why play Secret Sound?
Because very few daily games address only the ear, and this one follows the idea through by showing nothing: no image, no answer template, no waveform. What remains is a rare sensation, that of recognising a familiar noise without being able to name it.
Reading the feedback
The interface is deliberately spare: no grid, no color, no splitting the answer into letters. A score at the top of the page and a numbered hint button are the only anchors, and the player shows only a dotted line, not a usable waveform. In other words, nothing on the screen helps you guess in place of your ear.
Modes
- Core play
- The game presents a single default daily puzzle: one question (an audio clip) shown with a play button, a dotted-line placeholder, an answer field, and controls to Guess or Give up. The page shows unlimited replays, a score at the top, and three hints accessible via a numbered hint button. There are no alternate modes or separate game types.
Tips & strategy
- Replays cost nothing and the game states that explicitly. Before opening a hint, it's worth replaying the clip while listening for things other than the source: the duration, the room's echo, what happens just before the end.
- The hint button advertises its own inventory: three in total. The first one opened is therefore not an isolated aid but one third of a reserve.
- The dotted line under the play button is not a waveform: it doesn't tell you about peaks or the sound's actual length. Trying to 'read' it wastes time.

Yes, as often as you want. The note 'Unlimited replays' is displayed under the player.
How many hints are available?
Three, according to the button's label, which numbers the one it is about to open.
